If you’re planning to take your RV on a road trip this year, you’ll want to ensure it smells fresh and clean. As full-time RVers, we have spent the past two years finding the best ways to keep our RV smelling great. Learn these top RV tips for keeping your RV fresh below.
Candles are a Great Option When You’re in the RV
Candles are a great option whenever you’re planning to be inside the RV for a long time. We keep a candle on the kitchen island and light it every evening when we’re inside for the night to help freshen up the air. Additionally, I’ll keep a small candle on my desk to light it while I’m working sometimes.
Try an Essential Oils Diffuser
Keeping something like a diffuser going in the bathroom is a great way to combat any odors. You can also keep these in the bedroom to help you drift off to sleep with soothing scents. Be sure not to run it all the time, though, because the added humidity could make your RV more uncomfortable.
Don’t Let Your Black Tank Sit
It’s important to drain and rinse your RV’s black tank regularly. This will help to cut down on any lingering odors and keep your system from experiencing problems down the road.
Clean Your Water System and Tanks Regularly
Additionally, you should clean the water system and tanks after every trip. It doesn’t take long to rinse everything out, and sanitizing the system is easy. If you have any questions about how to do this, contact our RV service department.
Flush the Water Heater After Each Trip
Another thing to do after every trip is to ensure you flush the water heater. To do this, you’ll need to turn off the heater and the water supply, connect a hose to the drain valve, turn on the hot water in the RV and open the drain valve, then turn the water supply on and flush the system.
