Whenever you go camping, you’ll want to make sure you leave with everything you need to enjoy your time at the campground with your family. After two years of full-time RVing, we’ve figured out that the best way to do this is by creating some checklists for packing your things. Below, I’ll show you my best RV tips for how to pack up your site before heading to your next destination!
Create a Campsite Checklist
This list is meant to include all the accessories you’d use outside at the campsite. This is one of the first places we start to tidy up before heading to a new location, so it’s a good idea to get out your checklist and make sure you have everything.
Example of the Campsite Checklist:
- Chairs
- Rugs
- Toys
- Bikes
- Outdoor Games
- Tablecloths
- Firepit cooking utensils
- Tarps
- Hammocks
RV Interior Checklist
Next, we usually move inside to pack up. This process can take a little planning because you’ll have to pull everything out of your slides before you pull them in for travel. We usually keep plastic bins to put everything from the pantries and a cooler for the refrigerator. Below is a good example of our interior checklist.
Interior Checklist:
- Turn off water
- Drain tanks
- Empty pantry
- Empty cabinets in slides
- Empty refrigerator and freezer
- Strap down tables and chairs
- Close all cabinets
Last-Minute Checklist
Before you hook up to your towing vehicle, you’ll want to make sure your RV is ready to go. This list will include removing any slide supports and chocks, locking all your pass-through storage spaces, pulling in the slides, and anything else that you’ll need to do before you pull out of your campsite!
Last-Minute Checklist:
- Disconnect water
- Disconnect sewage and clean lines
- Dump tanks
- Disconnect electric
- Remove supports
- Pull in slides
- Lock your storage space
- Remove chocks
- Check tires
- Check batteries
