Campfire Baked Apples



An apple a day keeps the doctor away! Make sure you get your daily intake even when you’re out in the woods! Why not sweeten it up a little though? Try these campfire baked apples. It's a dessert that's good for you!




What You Need


apples
6 Honeycrisp apples
butter
6 Tablespoons butter
sugar
2 Tablespoons sugar
cinnamon
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
raisins
1 Cup of Raisins
tine foil
Heavy duty tin foil




How To Make It


Step 1: Lay out 6 sheets of tin foil.


Step 2: Cut open the apples at the core. like you would a pumpkin. Cut off a top piece to use as a lid and then scrape the core out but don’t cut all the way through. You want to leave some at the bottom.


Step 3: In a bowl, mix together the raisins, cinnamon and sugar. Place 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 ½ teaspoon of the raisin, sugar and cinnamon mixture into each apple and place the “lid” back on it.


Step 4: Wrap the apples in the foil sheets and place in the hot coals of the fire to bake for 10 min, rolling to the other side half way through.


These apples are sweet and delicious and although they do have some sugar, they have a lot of healthy properties to them as well! Apples and raisins are full of antioxidants and fiber, which help reduce the risk of cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. The cinnamon has its own antioxidants and also has anti-inflammatory properties and can fight infections both bacterial and fungal. It also stands up with the apple in helping to reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes!

Camping in general can be a very healthy thing. It gets you out into the fresh air and gets your body moving. Both of things are great for your heart as well as your mood. Sitting down to campfire baked apples at the end of the day is just a tasty way to top off a healthy day!
